Silver and Gold by Elia Tyson
The silver ship with silver sail, The vessel went forth through rain and hail, With silver hull and silver deck, And at the prow, dragon’s head on silver dragon’s neck. Onward towards adventure went the ship, And never did it's sail rip, For the sail was made of silver, Forged from the flow of the silver river. Always the wind hastened forward From behind and a bit to starboard; It hurried the ship on its way, To foreign land and foreign quay. But little did the crewmen know, That they would journey to caverns low, And sail to mountains high, And even to the place where the water meets the sky. Towards the sunset did they go, Until the sun began to glow Brighter than ever it had before, And brighter even than the suns of lore. The sun grew brighter, the lands grew stranger, And ever was there an increase in danger, As the many tempestuous waves grew, And fearsome, cold winds blew. But winds and waves were the least of their fears, For in that place a ship often veers To the left or right, towards rock and land, Without direction from captain’s hand. It was said by some that it was the work of ghosts, And many men did abandon their posts, But at that time it could not be proved, That in that place any ghosts had moved. Through perilous lands and enchanted seas They sailed, until one and all were ill at ease, And soon it was impossible to doubt, That there were ghosts about. But still on they sailed, Though the sea against them railed, And they stood strong; They persisted very long. They landed at many a harbor, And through long years of labor, Those men of silver discovered much gold Of which the full measure cannot be told. The journey home was harder still, Against the wind the men did pit their will, As they rowed their ship back to their home, Through silver waves and silver loam. But when they reached the bay, Not a single day Passed before every man A fearsome argument began. Everyone fought against his friend, And the companionship of the crew did end, As every man fought for his share; Every man fought for what he though was fair. The men killed and they stole, Every man sold his soul For one thing, stone cold: Gold, treacherous gold. After the fighting was done, No one had won; But there was one man who hadn't fought, For the gold, he had not sought. This one man took all the gold, All that gold, stone cold, And dumped it into the sea; For he knew that the greatest treasure of all, is free. |

Gorgeous swirling snow flakes Sitting round the warm fire Children skating on a frozen lake Playing, yet not knowing tire Then celebrating the birth of our sire If I Don't Come Back by Jessica (Sequeim) Bennett
I'm standing at the door now With shadows on my face You're watching me, just smiling So innocent, so brave You don't understand I'm leaving It's probably just as well For then you'll only know me In the stories that they tell And what you know Time will fade It all will go Lost- In the sands of time And I'll just be a laugh you know but can't seem to remember A ripple once more before the water touches shore between now and forever A whisper in the wind as spring comes again Lost in the waves of memory That's how you'll remember me I've loved you since I saw you When you were just a child Clinging to your mother's breast You looked at me and smiled I always have been there for you But that's about to change It's all up to your mother now And you'll forget my name Unless she tells you If I don't come back You will never know I'll only be a name A memory that you know And I'll just be a laugh you know but can't seem to remember A ripple once more before the water touches shore between now and forever A whisper in the wind as spring comes again Lost in the waves of memory That's how you'll remember me It won't be until tomorrow You'll notice I'm not there And you'll slowly forget me Through the next few years It's war that drives us far apart There's nothing I can do But I know deep within my heart I never could forget you And I'll just be a laugh you know but can't seem to remember A ripple once more before the water touches shore between now and forever A whisper in the wind as spring comes again Lost in the waves of memory That's how you'll remember me If I don't come back |
